Germany Seeks Access to Advanced Ukrainian Drone Technologies Amid Defense Cooperation Talks

Germany is seeking to secure access to Ukraine’s cutting-edge combat drone technologies through a formal intergovernmental agreement, as part of ongoing defense cooperation efforts amid the conflict in Eastern Europe. Alexander Hoffmann, head of the Bavarian Christian Social Union's (CSU) parliamentary group, emphasized the strategic importance of integrating Ukrainian innovations into the Bundeswehr’s arsenal.

Hoffmann, representing the CSU which forms part of Germany’s ruling conservative bloc alongside the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), called for Ukraine to provide “dividends” in return for Germany’s continued military and humanitarian support. He advocated for a binding intergovernmental agreement that would ensure Ukraine’s commitment to sharing its technological developments with German forces. This, Hoffmann argued, would enhance Germany’s own defense and deterrence capabilities in the face of evolving security challenges.
